In 2010, after not doing anything sporty since high school, I decided to enter a duathlon to see what all the fuss was about. After finishing in a very sorry state, I quickly caught “the bug” and entered more duathlons and triathlons.

To date I’ve raced at every triathlon distance and am a multiple Ironman finisher. I’ve won my age group on several occasions and I've represented Great Britain at European and World Championship level.

I’m also a keen runner and have finished multiple 5k's, 10k's, half marathons and marathons as well as winning my age groups at several fell races and have completed several ultra marathons including the White Rose Ultra and in 2024 at the age of 50, completed the Lakeland 50.

In 2013, after too many years to mention (or that I can remember) working for Her Majesty’s Court & Tribunal Service and a relocation to Lancashire, I gave up work and went back to University full time as a mature student to study a Sport Science & Coaching Degree.

That was the start of my coaching journey which led me to where I am today.

Having coached several athletes on a one-to-one basis whilst studying, in 2016 I decided to take the plunge and offer my services out to the wider community after much encouragement from people who keep telling me that I’m good at what I do. This was the start of PTC.

I'm now a Level 3 High Performance Triathlon England Coach, a Level 2 fitness instructor, qualified run leader, advanced Wattbike tester and have Training Peaks and Ironman University accreditations.

From 2015 until 2018, I was head coach at Rossendale Triathlon Club, sat on Triathlon England’s North West Head Coach Regional Committee and in the past have coached open water swimming for both The Endurance Store and St Helens Tri Club and on occasion, coached with Triathlon England’s North West Regional Academy.

When I'm not coaching (or training), I'm generally found working as a bicycle mechanic at Blazing Saddles in Hebden Bridge or researching the latest coaching, training, nutrition and kit to stay abreast of the latest developments in endurance sport and sport science.
