In 2010, after not doing anything sporty since high school, I decided to enter a duathlon to see what all the fuss was about. After finishing in a very sorry state, I quickly caught “the bug” and entered more duathlons and triathlons.

To date I’ve raced at every triathlon distance and am a multiple Ironman finisher. I’ve won my age group on several occasions and I've represented Great Britain at European and World Championship level.

In 2017, I out-biked 5 of the 10 female pro athletes at Ironman Mallorca 70.3.

I’ve also done a fair bit of running including finishing multiple 5k's, 10k's, half marathons, the Yorkshire Three Peaks and the White Rose Ultra.

My 400m swimming PB is sub 6 minutes, 10 mile bike TT sub 25 minutes, 10k running PB sub 40 minutes, 1/2 marathon PB is sub 1 hour 30 minutes. My Olympic Triathlon distance times are often sub 2 hours 10 minutes and I'm a sub 5 hour Half Ironman finisher.

In 2013, after too many years to mention (or that I can remember) working for Her Majesty’s Court & Tribunal Service and a relocation to Lancashire, I gave up work and went back to University full time as a mature student to study a Sport Science & Coaching Degree.

That was the start of my coaching journey which led me to where I am today.

From 2015 until 2018, I was head coach at Rossendale Triathlon Club, sat on Triathlon England’s North West Head Coach Regional Committee and in the past have coached open water swimming for both The Endurance Store and St Helens Tri Club and on occasion, coached with Triathlon England’s North West Regional Academy.

When I'm not coaching (or training), I'm generally found working as a bicycle mechanic at Blazing Saddles in Hebden Bridge or researching the latest coaching and training techniques and methodologies.

I'm a Level 3 Triathlon England Coach, a fully qualified

Level 2 fitness instructor, qualified run leader, advanced Wattbike tester and have Training Peaks and Ironman University accreditations.

Having coached several athletes on a one-to-one basis in the early days, in 2016 I decided to take the plunge and offer my services out to the wider community after much encouragement from people who keep telling me that I’m good at what I do.

I think that just about covers everything and I hope to hear from you soon.

Coach Pat.
