11th October 2020 - Epicman, Outlaw X, Virtual London Marathon and a Group Ride

It’s great when races actually happen (under the circumstances) enabling me to report back on some results from Team PTC.

First up was Craig who completed his first 70.3 Triathlon at Outlaw X. Despite the typical British weather which came out in force (and forced the swim to be shortened to 750m because of the water temperature), Craig finished in style in just over 6 hours 20 minutes (18:58 swim, 3:26:07 bike, 2:20:43 run).

Then Liz also finished her first 70.3 Triathlon at Epicman in the Lake District (where even the water isn’t flat) in an impressive time of just over 7 hours and 8 minutes (33:50 swim, 4:04:58 bike, 2:21:57 run).

Adam also completed the Epicman after entering last minute and not much structured training, but still managed to pull off a great result finishing in just over 6 hours 2 minutes (34:33 swim, 3:17:18 bike, 2:05:04 run).

And a quick mention to my friend James who managed to pull off the win at Epicman in a very impressive time of just over 4 hours 23 minutes (25:55 swim, 2:35:48 bike, 1:19:34 run) beating second place by nearly 7 minutes.

Then came the weekend of what should have been the London Marathon. Not to turn down a challenge, Lynne decided to complete the full distance in her garage on her treadmill and Lee by doing laps of Burnley Park – accompanied at the end by a few of us from Team PTC. Completing a marathon is hard enough, but without the crowds for motivation, this was an epic achievement for both Lynne and Lee – well done guys!

And finally, Team PTC got together for a socially distanced 50 mile group ride around the hills of Rivington. Despite getting lost and separated, everyone managed to finish almost together and I’m sure everyone enjoyed it!

Coach Pat.
