A massive shoutout to Liz who recently tackled the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Nice, France. Here is what she had to say about her incredible journey:

“I unexpectedly qualified for the IM 70.3 World Championship when I did Bolton 70.3 twelve weeks ago. My training was less than ideal as I fell near the finish and injured my shoulder and knocked my confidence. I honestly didn’t think I could get myself to France never mind finish the race but have had so much support from people. The week was amazing. I walked round with my imposter syndrome at full volume. The race was absolutely brutal in parts. The swim was gorgeous and as I neared the finish I actually thought I might be able to do it. The bike course was tough but not as hard as I thought except for the heat. The descent they said could be dangerous was actually lovely. The run, OMG it was soon hot mid afternoon. I had ice stuffed everywhere. I plodded up to 16k then everything started to seize up and I got slower and slower. But I finished and I wasn’t last and the experience was just absolutely brilliant. Thanks to everyone who had belief in me and helped me get to Nice.”

If that wasn't inspiring enough, Liz sent over this incredibly touching message after crossing the finish line:

“Thank you. You have helped more than you will ever know. I felt like I was in heaven in the swim and never thought I’d be there again, less so the run. I’m a bit stiff now but still very happy. Still having difficulty believing I did it.”

Reminders like this are exactly why I love doing what I do. Huge congratulations, Liz—thank you for trusting me with your coaching journey!

Coach Pat.
